The Tasmanian Building and Construction Industry Training Board, through its promotional activities and funding programs, encourages diversity in the industry. The Board has the view that supporting diversity isn't just 'the right thing to do', it is essential to future sustainability of the industry.
The TBCITB Diversity Program provides support to activities promoting diversity in the building and construction industry.
Grants of up to $2,000 are available to organisations to assist with the cost of staging events that are aimed at positively promoting the benefits of engaging and providing career opportunities to employees from diverse backgrounds.
To apply please forward to the Board, under your letterhead, details of the planned event including objectives of the event, date, venue, target audience, budget and other funding sources including entrance fee.
This program aims to assist in meeting TBCITB's responsibility to ensure the principles of equal opportunity are applied to training in the building and construction industry.
It is a small grants program that can assist overcoming obstacles to training for designated groups of employees.
Operators in building and construction may apply for a grant of up to $2,000 to meet or assist with costs of providing training associated with the extra needs of a trainee if that person is an Aborigine, has literacy or numeracy issues, is a woman or has a physical or mental disability.
These costs may be charged by the training provider or be a separate cost to the employer.
